… But it is definitely trying to pull me back in.
Phantasy Star Online was one of those games that I spent a lot of time on, before I went on my Final Fantasy XI binge. I think a lot of people who has played PSO will know what I’m talking about with how addicting the game is even though it is fairly easy to just drop it and pick it up whenever. It was either PSO or Diablo II for a lot of people and I was in the PSO bunch.
Unfortunately, the only way to play PSO online nowadays is either have a Japanese account or by private servers. This ultimately kind of kills off the great fun randomness you run into with all these different players online and I had my fair share of it all. It would be nice if PSO was officially alive in North America or Europe again. With Phantasy Star Universe recently closing their Playstation 2/PC servers, Phantasy Star is certainly fading away into history with Phantasy Star Portable cuddling it all ever so softly.
All I know is… Sega made a great thing. Sega made many great things. Except when Sega makes a great thing, it dies out pretty fast. Shenmue was one of them, old Sonic games were another. Phantasy Star is definitely one as well.
