How To Power Level in Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy

Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy

Oi, that long title again. I’m sure many of you have purchased Dissidia Duodecim (which is out on UMD and PSN for Playstation Portable) and I’m also pretty sure many of you are most likely wondering if there is a way to exploit something to power level your characters to 100. As most that have played the original, there were ways to do so mindlessly and with some speed.

I’m here to tell you how to do it in Duodecim and how to do it faster!First thing’s first. As we have started earlier in this blog, you can transfer any original Dissidia data and Duodecim Prologus into Dissidia Duodecim. This will help you bring some levels over and get some Chocobo Colognes. After you have done that, it’s time to grind up levels.

Now note, this will simply just level your character up at a rapid rate. This will, however, not help you earn PP, AP or any items faster. This means that even though you’re leveled up to 100, there is much MUCH more needed in order to stand a fighting chance at high level. With this in mind, take note that this will still require you to do a lot in the game even beyond leveling the characters to 100.

Now that we got that out of the way, lets set this up!

First thing’s first: You will need to have a few things unlocked from the PP Catalog. If you have these items purchased from Dissidia 1, you’re good to go. Otherwise, some regular gameplay will be needed to purchase these:

CPU Level Cap +100 (Which requires that you buy them at 10 level increments)
Exdeath or Gabranth
Stage – Edge of Madness

While you can attempt this with other options, the level cap will be very important to gain enough EXP.

You will need to setup an original rule set. In Dissidia Duodecim, you can create custom rules that can modify certain variables to a match and choose to ban certain items/summons. For our sake, we want to bend these rules to our advantage. For those who don’t know, you earn EXP based on how much damage you do with your HP (Square) attack, which is based on how much Bravery you earned by hitting your opponents with normal attacks (Circle).

Go to the main menu and go down to “Data Config” (second to the last) and then choose Original Rules (bottom). While in this menu, click on any of the tabs on the left side and choose Edit. Change the following variables:

Initial Stage Bravery – 1000
Critical Hit Rate – 1000
Critical Damage – 1000
EX Core Appearance Rate – 4
EX Core Absorption – 700
EX Mode Duration – 120
Wall Rush Damage – 200
Bravery Bonus – -100 (that’s minus 100)
EX Revenge Duration – 10

Though it is not really needed, you can turn off assists if you find it to be easier for you. Leave everything else as is.

To give you the basic gist of what we’ve just adjusted: We made it so that a low level will start off with near max bravery as the opponent will be inflicted with a huge bravery penalty. We also want to up the crit rate so that you’ll earn a lot of damage from blocking your opponent’s attack and quickly attacking. We also have EX Cores appearing almost instantly after pick up.

Now that we have our Original Rules setup, time to put our plan into action!

Go into Quick Battle 1-on-1 and choose any character you wish to level. If you have any EXP multiplier items, I would equip them right now. Then pick either Exdeath or Gabranth then pick the following settings:

Stage – Edge of Madnes
Strength – Maximum (9)
Level – 100
Type – Conservative (Exdeath) or Extreme (Gabranth)
Rules – The ruleset you just made.

After that, go into battle and do the following:

vs. Exdeath: Exdeath CPU tends to be very dumb, so any random spamming Square attack will most likely hit him, especially in the small area that makes up the stage. There will only be one EX Core spawn area, so camp it, go into EX mode and spam some HP attack with range if possible. You will most likely hit him at some point and will one shot him with the HP attack and the extra damage from the EX.

vs. Gabranth: The added bonus against Gabranth is that he cannot kill you unless he grabs an EX Core. Again, there is only one EX Core spawn, so camp it. Get ready to block his attacks and immediately counter with an HP attack. While in the HP attack, go into EX mode. If he hits you, go into EX mode while he hits you and you’ll end up in EX revenge where everything slows down. Recuperate yourself from the damage, grab an EX core if one is up, reactivate EX mode and hit him with an HP attack. IF there is no EX core while in revenge, you have 10 seconds to recover back your Bravery if you got broken. Hit him with an HP attack and wait for your next chance. This one is the harder of the two but might be preferred based on what character you’re leveling.

You’ll notice that once you hit them with an HP attack, your EXP will sky rocket and you’ll hit a bunch of levels per hit. Eventually after about 30 minutes of work, you will be level 100 and have all your abilities. Of course, now that they are leveled, they are also probably naked and you won’t have any gear on you. That is up to you to handle. Enjoy Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy on Playstation Portable!

Great, I was bummed after my old data gave me a corrupted trying to pass it over Duodecim…..strange thing is I can still use it while playing the first one…..

Random question: Are you using custom firmware?

  • Shinrikiyaru

If we do, then how could we fix this?

    • MogKnight

Well, without diving too much into it, you will need to buy a legit copy of Dissidia Duodecim Final Fantasy. The reason being is that in order to get any recent PSP game to work on custom firmware, it needs to be patched up with the Prometheus patch. What happens is that for whatever technical reason, if you were to play a game that wasn’t involved with those patches and then save it and play that same game again but was patched, the old save file will not be read. This also applies to any Prometheus patched game that wants to read data from non-Prometheus patched games.

Your save file is just fine for original Dissidia. It’s the fact that Duodecim was patched with Prometheus that makes it so that it can’t read non-Prometheus patched games. I assume there are ways around it but that’s something I cannot comment on.

    HEY THANKS

  • Cleyuri

hey how to turn off the assist?? it’s freaking me out..

    • http://www.themogblog.com MogKnight

You can play old school Dissidia style by disabling Assist Gauge increases in custom rules. Note that you can’t straight up disable assists otherwise. I will note that I find assists to add an element to the game that really makes the game much more entertaining and longer as it now gives players a chance to escape out of, otherwise, impossible situations.
