Video Game Streaming Freedom in Danger!

With all these bills and laws being passed around, we gamers are on a constant uphill battle for our rights and freedom. Not to say that non-gamers aren’t but with the constant bad rep that we get as gamers, the fire is definitely burning and putting it out becomes our priority. Recently written from by UltraDavid of Shoryuken.com, he brings his law skills to the table to analyze and bring notice to that passing bill S.978 (To amend the criminal penalty provision for criminal infringement of a copyright, and for other purposes) would be a huge determent to websites and communities that stream or upload video game footage. This means that websites (like here at TheMogBlog) would have to pay licenses towards the companies in order to show footage and make profit from it to pay for hosting or upgrading equipment. This means that those that stream tournaments like Level|Up and Team Sp00ky would be unable to bring gamers fighting game tournament footage safely without paying a license for it.
This is a pretty big deal and for those that regularly enjoy web episodes of various game related shows like the Angry Video Game Nerd or RetrowareTV, this would put these guys in danger of jail time for doing what they love. Please make yourself aware by reading the article and use your voice to prevent this from passing.
