To Review A Game

Since I started work on The Mog Blog, I have yet to really settle down on a format or a method of reviewing a game. The main issues usually revolve around trying to place a rating number or a letter grade or if a review should be more entertaining than just spewing out facts.
Then there’s the question of do we want to do video reviews, a combination of both or just strictly text? I’m not too much of a fan of just relying on passing on information with strictly text (which is why I tend to keep these news posts at a minimum as possible as of late) and much more insight can be passed on by visuals. Our current capture card (which will be replaced) is complete garbage as it only captures at 480i and just looks blurry as all hell. Instead, we’re grabbing a Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR for capturing purposes. I was thinking about doing live streaming at some point but I think I will reserve that for when we start getting much more advanced and have a bigger fan base.
Then finally comes the question of if we want to actually show our faces in our reviews. I’m completely fine with it but probably would have to invest in a much better camcorder later on. We’re going to need to anyways once we start doing interviews and press coverage.
With all this in mind, what do you guys want to see in our reviews? Sure, I’d love to do video reviews once we get our capture device in (won’t be too long) and I definitely want to start playing a bunch of games and think of creative ways to get information across. I just want to know what everyone else thinks about how we should go about it.
