Nintendo’s Ambassadors Program for Early 3DS Adopters

With the recent announcement of the price drop, I’m sure plenty would be pretty upset with those that spent more than 170 for their nice Nintendo 3DS. Nintendo, however, is giving those that did purchase one early a nice bonus: 10 NES Virtual Console Games and 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console Games. What Nintendo is calling the “”Ambassadors Program”, early adopters will only need to log into the eShop at least once prior to the price drop to be registered to download the games for free. Interesting thing to note is that Nintendo stated that the GBA games would not be purchasable and can only be obtained by this method.
So far, only half the list has been revealed as to what will be released:
NES:
Super Mario Bros
Donkey Kong Jr.
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
Legend of Zelda
GBA:
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Metroid Fusion
Wario Ware, Inc: Mega Microgames
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Nothing on the list I would particularly want to pay $80 dollars extra for (considering I have all 5 GBA games to begin with and the NES games are pretty accessible anywhere now). Another thing to note is that Nintendo will be losing money for each 3DS being sold after the price drop. Bad news for Nintendo? They do have a pair of Mario games coming up and Star Fox but they clearly will need more than that to flourish.
