Because someone’s gonna ask this question:
PSN should get theirs around 5AM 2PM PST on Tuesday, August 23rd 2011. Reports are saying that PSN in Japan already has 3rd Strike up for purchase. right now! You can purchase this for $15.00.
Xbox Live should get theirs around 2AM PST on Wednesday, August 24th 2011 right now! This will cost you 1200 MSP ($15.00)
Times, of course, may vary.
Edit: Whoops… and this is what happens when I don’t keep an ear out for PS3 users.
As far as random questions that have been popping up in regards to what is in Third Strike Online Edition:
- YouTube Sharing for PSN can be linked to your personal YouTube account. Xbox Live replays will be uploaded into a dedicated YouTube channel. The upload quality seems to be stuck at 240p.
- There are 3 soundtracks in 3sOE: Arcade, Dreamcast Remixes and new remixes made just for Online Edition
- There is no balance patch, everything is exactly like the arcade minus a few game breaking glitches that would freeze the game or similar.
- It is running GGPO middleware. There might be some instances where you might get a “KO” bug where the game will think that you’re KOed when in reality (and visually) you actually blocked the attack and the game keeps going. This is due to how GGPO uses a rollback mechanic to keep the game in sync. GGPO is great for online play but it’s not absolutely perfect.
- The achievements on the side can be disabled so that it doesn’t distract you while playing.
With all that said, enjoy Third Strike in its purest form and with the best online fighting game netcode to date!
