Level Up Series To Extend Weekly Tournaments to Thursday, EVO Sponsorship Reinstated

Wednesday Night Fights, a SoCal weekly tournament that takes in Super Arcade which is just a few blocks away from Cal Poly Pomona, has been the center of the fighting game community in the Los Angeles area. With the release of Street Fighter X Tekken, their weekly schedule has hit a conflict as three of Capcom’s big fighting game titles would have to be catered for. Considering that their tournaments usually run from 8PM PST all the way to early AM, adding another game to the night was just impractical. With Street Fighter x Tekken not acting as a replacement for any title, something had to be done.

To alleviate this, Alex Valle, old school fighting game legend and head guy of Level Up | Series, will be expanding to Thursdays in a weekly event called “The Runback” starting this week with the start of Season 2 of their tournaments. Wednesday Night Fights will continue on with Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken. The Runback will have Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and will have The King of Fighters XIII as a new addition to the line up.

In addition to this, EVO will be sponsoring both Wednesday Night Fights and The Runback for Season 2. Previously, their sponsorship were revoked due to previous controversial drama. It’s good to know that everyone is ready and willing to put that all behind them and to move on to a higher level of professionalism.

Oh, and eSports.

Level Up’s live stream can be found at http://www.leveluplive.tv/ and will be active on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
