Trophy Unlocked: Are Achievements Screwing My Gaming Experience?

Recently with the release of the PS Vita, I have had to sit back and reevaluate my gaming habits. I have learned that my achievement acquiring ways have been cutting into my enjoyment of a video game. It’s been a long while since I have honestly been able to just sit here and enjoy a game to its fullest extent.
What made me hit this hump was Lumines for PS Vita. I was a bit enraged at it for a while because to me it was nothing but a Ubisoft cash grab being a full retail release with only a minimum trophy list and no platinum. It’s worse than when PS3 got RE4 and Code Veronica and didn’t have achievements comparable to the 360 list.

Did I mention I have to many games on PS3? >.> If I were to plat all my games, this would be FAR higher.
Eventually I found myself with this game just sitting there so I fired it up. After a while I began to just fall into Lumines and be consumed by the addictive gameplay. It was the first time in a while where I was able to fully immerse myself in a game and just enjoy the game. No care about the achievements, just playing the game and experiencing it the way that it was originally meant to be.
There are many games out there that want you to be immersed in there world but is being concerned about their achievements limiting one to try new experiences? Many times have I seen on sites that if a game doesn’t have a platinum that they wont buy it. I have done this myself and now I can’t help but wonder just how many good games have I passed on while keeping this mentality.
The reason I have had this on my mind is that there are many games out there but nothing really all that unique. Indie games are coming out with some pretty great concepts in gaming and have become a point of interest for me over the last year but I just don’t dedicate the time I want to them because of this said issue. It sucks honestly and I wonder just how many other people, especially our readers, who tend to do the same thing.
If anyone has any particular bad habits when it comes to gaming, take the time out and type them down in the comments section.
