Nyko’s Power Grip Pro is a Godsend for the 3DS

Listen, that Circle Pad Pro that Nintendo released for the 3DS makes it look like crap. Never mind that it’s a limited release, you also can’t put in an external battery pack like the Nyko Power Pak+ that they released awhile back. I own a Circle Pad Pro but I rarely put it on because that would require me to take off the Power Pak, put in the original battery, and end up with significantly less battery life.

Nyko’s Power Grip Pro essentially combines the Power Pak+ which a Circle Pad Pro to create that one accessory that you can pretty much leave on your 3DS forever and never have the need to remove it.

When shown to me at E3, they quickly pointed it out before moving out to the next thing. Me, however, was like “WOAH WAIT A SECOND” and requested that I have a closer look at the thing.

It's full of thumbprints, but it's so beautiful!

It was aesthetically pleasing, unlike the 3DS with the Circle Pad Pro attachment that looks like it grew a tumor off the side. There’s also a hard shell cover for the back of the 3DS unit, removing more unsightly finger prints much like what is shown above.

Ugly!

The Power Grip Pro will be around the markets come October 2012. Considering that there has yet to be any announcements about a potential new 3DS unit, I think it’s a safe bet to pick up one of these when they get released.

FINALLY! The RL pics of that bad boy! Looks Good as the renders! Totally picking one of those bad boys up in October! Now, for the questions. How does it interface with the 3DS for input? The IR port like on the CPP? Can you access the stylus and game slot?

While I can’t say for sure since it’s still in the prototype phase, it would assume the functionality of it would be exactly the same as the CPP in that it would interface with the 3DS via the IR port. The battery must be screwed on, therefore access to the stylus and the game slot is easily accessible.

hey, Does the power grip pro have ZR and ZL butons like the circle pad pro?

    • http://www.themogblog.com/ MogKnight

It did have a ZR and a ZL button just like the CPP along with an R extension, however I would need to talk to Nyko about this thing. With the 3DS XL announcement/release happening long after this, we have no idea if it is still coming out or not.
