That juicy red box rare has been let out of the box, PSO-World has reported that SEGA will be releasing Phantasy Star Online 2 in 2013 to North America and Europe. While there are no details released yet other than a press release with already known information about the game, a PSO2 website will be coming up sometime later today at www.pso2.com.
This is exciting news but not without a few questions that may not be answered until later on. There are concerns, especially those that have been playing PSO and the offshoot series Phantasy Star Universe. One matter on everyone’s mind is if the servers will be region-separated. There are many players that are in the Japanese PSO2 game that most are concerned if their accounts will be universal and can be used in the overseas version.
However, a huge concern is if the servers are separated, will the different servers be in sync in terms of content? We’ve seen SEGA fall behind on content updates on the EN servers from the JP servers by a significant amount of time in the PSU servers. This has me concerned as SEGA’s track record of managing these servers is not exactly a shining example of good management.
Regardless, PSO2 will be arriving some time in 2013 on PCs. There has been no word on a PlayStation Vita English release, which is scheduled for Spring 2013 in Japan.
