SEGA of Japan Doesn’t Want Foreign Players in Japanese PSO2 Servers

There seems to be some level of fear and despair with SEGA’s recent announcement on the Japanese Phantasy Star Online 2 website stating that they revised their Terms of Service to state that players connecting to the Japanese servers with an outside connection from another region are prohibited from doing so. While there is no mention of an IP Blocks, either way SEGA of Japan has made themselves clear that they do not want foreign players to play on the current (and only) server.
Foreign players are pretty upset about this. Not only did some already spent real money on the game, SEGA has had a history of not releasing content updates in any timely fashion, usually with the Japanese servers having more than 6 months of content ahead of the other servers.
Again, I like to point out that there has not been any mention of an IP Block, and chances are that you will be able to walk into the game and be just fine once the servers come back up after tonight’s maintenance. At the same time though, those players outside of Japan that have played on the Japanese servers now have something to fear that they can be banned just for connecting to the game.
