Nintendo’s Wii U Releases on Dec. 8th In Japan, Comes In Two Sets

Just revealed today, Nintendo has announced that the Wii U will be coming out in Japan on December 8th this year. There will be two sets: Basic (8 Gigs of Flash Memory) and Premium (32 Gigs of Flash Memory). They will be 26,250 (337 USD) and 31,500 (405 USD) yen respectively.

Now before you all panic by saying the prices are ridiculous, note that generally things sold in Japan are much cheaper elsewhere. Many are predicting that the Wii U may end up costing North Americans 250 and 300 respectively. The December 8th launch is also past the Black Friday sales, which can lead to a lot of potential sales for this new Nintendo platform.

I’m sure many are uttering these words under their breath: “Don’t screw it up Nintendo.”

Edit: It should be noted that the system will support USB hard drives… of the 2.0 kind!
